All-Ceramic Dental Crowns and Bridges
Dental crowns and bridges are common cornerstones of restorative care, used to strengthen and rebuild teeth that are damaged or missing altogether. Instead of having to brace for a noticeably silver or gold addition to your mouth, patients will be happy to know that our practice is completely metal-free! Dr. Sherman relies on all-ceramic and E-Max materials instead of lacking traditional metals, providing a high-quality, natural look that blends in beautifully with the rest of your smile.
Individual dental crowns are designed to completely cover the visible, white surface of the natural tooth, protecting its remaining structure while also replenishing lost shape and function. Their versatility is great for treating a variety of common situations, including:
- Significant tooth decay that can’t be treated with a tooth-colored filling
- Dental breakage/fracture
- Weakened tooth structure that needs additional support
- Aesthetic problems like misshapen tooth structure
- Restoring a tooth treated with root canal therapy
- Restoring a lost tooth with a dental implant
Alternatively, dental crowns can be used in conjunction with a custom dental bridge to replace one or more missing teeth along a single arch. Many patients find this option preferable to traditional dentures because their new bridge is not removable. Instead, the crowns are placed over adjacent healthy teeth as “anchors” that keep it firmly in place, creating a natural and sturdy fit that functions like the real thing.
Root Canal Therapy
When a tooth has become too damaged for dental crowns and/or fillings to successfully treat, root canal therapy is the last line of defense, allowing Dr. Sherman to thoroughly remove diseased pulp and bacteria from the inner chambers so that the natural structure can be preserved. In the case of particularly complex surgical/endodontic procedures, our team can refer patients to a specialist that’s just down the hall from our office – in fact, we can often get you in for treatment during the same appointment!
Today, many patients with extensive tooth loss still prefer the traditional reliability and cost-effective nature of full and partial dentures. Dr. Sherman offers Valplast® flexible partials for additional comfort and a sturdier, more natural fit overall. These prosthetics are removable in nature, which means that patients can remove them when practicing oral hygiene and sleeping. If you would prefer a non-removable tooth replacement solution, implant-retained dentures are also available at Franklin Avenue Dental Care!
